Today is Giving Tuesday!
GivingTuesday is a movement created in Canada to kick start the giving season. Every year after Black Friday and Cyber Monday there is now Giving Tuesday, “An Opening of the giving season”.
“We have two days that are good for the economy. Now we have a day that is good for the community too.” – GivingTuesday
This is a chance for everyone to come together, to rally for their favorite charities, and to think about others.
The Giving can be as small as a few coins dropped in a donation box, a jar of canned food donated to the food bank. Even the smallest things can go a long way for those in need.
Even though we do have this special day every year now, I stress the importance to keep helping and thinking of others every other day of the year. It is amazing how such small acts of kindness go a long way.
With the cold weather coming you can help those in need like the residents do every year in Nova Scotia. They come together to tie coats, mittens and scarves to street poles for those who are left out in the cold and are in need.
You could create a movement like the community of Ottawa did with “Purse Project”, which has recently gone viral. People donate purses that we have locked away in your closet, that we won’t likely use again, and fill them up with toiletries, and other things, to donate to women in need.
It’s amazing the difference that one person, doing one little thing, can make to help bring the community together, and help those in need.
Today is #GivingTuesday, how are you going to give back?
